WWOOF was founded in England in 1971 as a platform to assist farmers that could not afford to hire help find volunteers eager to learn organic farming. Originally called "Working Weekends on Organic Farms", it is now known as "World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms".
I had the privilege of volunteering for four months a few years back in France. I traveled over 2,200 miles while staying in fourteen different towns. A bucket list item I didn't know I had. I not only fell in love with the food, the wine, the history, the art.....but also the people. The French are some of the nicest, funniest and welcoming people I've ever experienced. J'aime France.
